The draw for the knockout rounds was held on August 13, 2021 at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. In the qualifying rounds, each knockout round was played over two legs. If the aggregate score was tied after the second leg, the away goal rule was applied and, if it was still tied, no extra time was played and a penalty shootout was used to determine the winner (Regulations III. 13 and 14).[1] This phase consisted of 32 teams.
